Create passwords nobody will ever guess
We need passwords for almost everything these days. Half the websites we visit on the Net require us to sign up for an account and what else? Create a password!
Many of us prefer to keep it simple. We use personal information like names and identity card numbers or choose one password and use it for every other account we create.
It’s not safe.
It is easy for hackers to break into accounts that use your name, personal information or any word that can be found in the dictionary. So even if you use a word like psychophysicotherapeutics, if it can be found in the dictionary, it can be guessed.
Find out how to create a password that nobody will ever guess by following these guidelines:
1) Don’t use names. Not yours, not your friends, family members or even pets. If people who have met you were to hack into your account, those would be the first few things they would try.
2) Don’t use identity card numbers or phone numbers. Many online accounts require you to enter these types of information so it would be easy for hackers to get hold of it.
3) Use words that don’t exist. Create a word or shorten a sentence into a word and make sure it is something you will remember. For example, if you were born in Johor, grew up in Ipoh and settled down in KL you could create JB2_Ipoh2KLumpur
4) Passwords should have a minimum of 8 characters, and as meaningless as possible.
5) Use all kinds of types possible – lower case, upper case, numbers, symbols, special characters, etc.
6) Change your passwords regularly, maybe once every three months
7) Never give out your password to anybody.
