Advertlets.com, Malaysia’s second blog advertising network is currently offline from the net due to domain issues.

All Adverlets’s publishers serving its ads will face some issues with their advertlets’s ads. When a visitor tries to open a site containing the Advertlets’s ad, the site will be directed to a landing/parking page with the url http://www.adbaaz.com/?dn=apps.advertlets.com&flrdr=yes&nxte=……….. (see screen shot below)

Some Malaysian sites in the blogsphere have suspected that Advertlet.com was hacked, however a quick check revealed that the domain, www.advertlets.com has expired on 3 January 2008. Further checking revealed that www.advertlets.com was renewed on 3 January 2008 itself but it was officially updated on 4 January 2008. Below is the snapshot of www.advertlets.com during the time of writing this article.

A quick response from Josh Lim, founder of Advertlets, on his blog revealed that the ad network was down due to the DNS changes made. Below are the answers of Josh Lim regarding the current issues.

Is Advertlets.com shutting down?
No. We’ll be back online shortly.

What happened?
A complication regarding the renewal process of the domain for Advertlets.com. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

Will Advertlets.com be online at the same URL again?
Yes, it will be at the same url, www.advertlets.com

Can you make sure that this won’t happen in future?
Please be assured that this will never happen again, and we will take all steps necessary.

Why is my blog redirecting?
Due to the nature of the error, some if not all blogs are redirecting to a placeholder site. This is not intended, and usual service will resume shortly.

How soon until the error is resolved?
For most, the error should be resolved within an hour from time of posting. Worst case (for international users), 24 hours.

Can I still check out my account details or access Advertlets.com?
Yes, you can use http://apps.advertlets.com (this is the beta login for Advertlets 2.0 and is mostly functional). Subdomains for advertlets.com are still functional, however, the main www.advertlets.com domain is affected.

Or, you can edit your hosts file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (no file extension). Open up the file in notepad and put in this line:
202.46.116.100 advertlets.com

(Note that this is only a temporary fix)

Does this affect my current cashouts?
No, payments will be sent as usual.

The ad code was so powerful that it even diverted Google cached page of www.advertlets.com to the domain parking page, view here. Other resolution on top of Josh’s suggestion is to remove the advertlets code on your site temporarily until these issues are resolved.

Lets hope that after this, the Advertlets’s ad network will load faster!!!!

Tripit, is an extremely useful application for frequent travelers.

It’s dead simple to use and it keeps you organized - all you have to do is forward confirmation emails to them when you purchase airline tickets, hotel reservations, car rentals, etc. Tripit pulls the relevant information out of the emails and builds an organized itinerary for you. You can send emails in any order, for multiple trips, whatever. It just figures everything out and organizes it. Read the rest of this entry »

Instructions:
1. ) Copy and paste the matrix of “ViralTags” below courtesy of Founders Cafe.

2.) Substitute the Host Tag and one of the “Viral Tags” in the matrix with your anchor text of choice with your blog’s URL. Please keep anchor text to a max of 3 words to keep the matrix size manageable.

3.) When you get a ping back from someone that has your link in one of their “Viral Tags”, practice good karma by copying his/her Host Tag’s anchor text (automatically the associated link will also be copied) and paste it over one of your “Viral Tags” below.

4.) Encourage and invite your readers to do the same and soon this can grow virally.

Host Tag: Malaysia technology Blog

Important: Once I get a ping back from you, I will add your anchor text and the associated link you designate as “Host Tag” here, replacing one of the “ViralTags” from the matrix above. As more and more bloggers copy and paste this matrix, the more backlinks you will have with your anchor text. If everybody who copy and paste from your blog does the same, pretty soon this will spread and go viral. So, the sooner you participate, the more links with anchor text you will receive.

====== Copy and Paste from Above this line=====

Now sit back and watch this number growing. Also, read the concept Improve your Rankings and Google PR with ViralTags.

Copying text from webpage using the copy-and-paste function often reproduces the text with its original formatting, including line breaks, photos, links, font size, colour and layout.

If you just want to copy the raw text to an Outlook or Word document, try HovText (www.hovklan.com), a small freeware and open-source application.

Once installed, you just need to set the hotkey of your choice as well as activate the relevant settings, such as setting it to active mode, as the app needs to run in the background to work.

After that, highlight and copy the text that you want from a website as usual.

Before pasting it to a Word or Outlook document, press the hotkey and you’re all set — this will remove any formatting and only the raw text will be pasted.

What’s more interesting, you can paste only the relevant information that you need with HovText’s filter function.

For instance, you can just paste e-mail addresses or embedded links only.
